On Purpose

Daniel Beaumont

After graduating in Business Management from the University of Manchester, Dan decided to take a gap year and travel the world. After various adventures, Dan went on to set up Podstel - a hospitality and events social enterprise based in Bucharest, Romania. Part hostel, part cafe, Podstel is a community hub where travellers and locals can come together to share, learn and connect through community-led workshops, events and performances. Dan expanded Podstel to 3 locations in Bucharest, and by 2020 the organisation was hosting 15,000 travellers a year from 100 countries. While Dan was in Romania, he also founded Creative Steps - a charity that provided overlooked but talented individuals with the resources, means and opportunities to develop their passions and skills. Having now exited Podstel and Creative Steps, Dan has now returned to the UK after 8 years of living abroad. He is excited to learn as much as he can about the UK’s social impact sector and is particularly interested in well-being, mental health and protecting the environment. Daniel loves all things nature, endurance sports and the great outdoors. He spent the summer of 2021 cycling 10,000km around Britain raising £7,500 for Mind Over Mountains - a mental health charity that helps individuals restore mental health through natural means such as therapy-led hiking expeditions and well-being retreats.
